SWOT Analysis

Strengths 

The course excelled by increasing critical thinking skills throughout the collaborative project as students ensured all three parts correlated and promoted student learning. Critical thinking was present through the reinforcement activities as students researched and shared their perspectives on various topics. By completing these activities, students put the content into action by recalling their newfound knowledge, which assisted in learning retention. Another strength of the course was the collaboration through discussion boards, providing new insights and varying perspectives. 


Weaknesses 

The weakness throughout the course was not having examples, especially in the project phases. I enjoy seeing a solid example to show me how to structure my project, and I will then be able to visualize and brainstorm how I want to create my project. 


Opportunities 

The opportunities for future development were seen throughout the gamification and media activities as it allowed students with knowledge of using Canva, Camtasia, Articulate Storyline, and more to show their skills. For new students unfamiliar with these tools, they learned to use platforms like Canva and others, and if they had a positive experience, it could lead to future use.


Threats 

Along with the gamification and media activities, some students may have limited knowledge of how to appropriately create a video and what elements to include, such as attractive photos that enhance the presentation, background music, font color, etc. A video listing tips or a short how-to video would be a great tool.

Collaborative Learning  Collaborative learning opportunities, such as team-based collaboration, can be morphed into leaderboards, badges, and rewards by introducing gamification into the courses.   Discovering Constructivism Theory and Activities      In this post, you will discover the benefits that constructivism has on the classroom when implemented correctly to foster collaboration and embrace creative thinking. 1) What learning theory would make this activity feasible? The learning theory that would make the activity feasible is constructivism. Constructivism occurs in online learning when interaction and collaboration take place in a digital environment. Module 9: Reinforcement Activity

For this activity, I chose to look further into gamification in higher education.  Gamification Within the field of instructional design, gamification is becoming more prevalent in higher education each day. Gamification is transforming traditional methods of teaching and bringing many benefits to learning. These benefits include increased engagement, motivation factors (badges, points, leaderboards, etc.), improved learning outcomes, and an increase in skills such as problem-solving and critical thinking. A challenge that occurs with gamification is determining how best to implement it and to what extent.
